Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Psalm 37:4

Let's be honest - we all do things that make us happy. Friends, hobbies, activities, television shows: we choose to do what brings us the most satisfaction.

Now that isn't a bad thing, unless those things take us away from Christ, dull our senses to sin or cause us to shun our responsibilities. With that said, how can you know what is right and what is wrong?

The verse above is a perfect fit for this - If you delight yourself in Christ, He will give you the desires of your heart. The catch is that if you are truly seeking to "delight yourself in the Lord" (and true Christians WILL), that will directly affect the wants and desires of your heart!

DELIGHT in Christ and you will DESIRE Christ and the things He wants - and you will have true satisfaction and happiness in this life!

There are some churches (Side note: What is a church? We'll address that later!)  in our area that will tell you to celebrate pop culture and enjoy the sinful pleasures of the world - just love Jesus while you do it.

That is the craziest and dumbest thing in the world - and unbiblical (I John 2:15, I Corinthians 6:14, 17 to name a few)! If you delight in Christ, you will want what He wants and that is to lift His name up to the world around you... not to celebrate the world and it's adictive pleasures.

At Lakeview, we're not going to encourage you to watch Jersey Shore, get  "Christian" (HUH?) tattoos or poor filth into your mind and heart. We want you to delight in Christ - and we will show you how!
