There is so much preaching today about how God wants to give the world material wealth, emotional stability and relationship success, but once you begin to dive into God's Word you find that it is all just FLUFF. While God can grant you emotional stability, give you the perfect partner and grant you a nice bank account that is not always the case!
This life, the life you are partaking of RIGHT NOW, is not about you. The blessing of breath in your lungs should be sufficient enough to make one satisfied, yet we want to squeze as much out of this life as possible. So men and women go on living a life that looks to suit their fancies, parading themselves in a worldly display of arrogance, selfishness and pride... My oh my, how we've missed the mark.
This life is about GOD. God is not a Being that is looking to satisfy your material wants or worldly ambitions; He is, rather, seeking HIS GLORY. Look at what Isaiah says:
"7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him."
Do you want happiness? Do you want fulfillment? Look no further than Christ. In Him (Did you get that? IN Him) is happiness, fulfillment and joy. We all want to be happy... God wants you to be happy also - as long as it is in HIM so that He will receive the GLORY from your life!
John Piper repeated what the great Puritans (Theologians from hundreds of years ago) well: "God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him."
