    Ultimate Power; Incredible Humility

    April 27, 2010
Imagine having the power of the universe at your fingertips... the power to create things out of nothing, the strength to move mountains with a thought, or the ability to obliterate enemies with just one word. Now imagine you have that power and while being assaulted by evil-doers, you never tap into it.

What logical, rational person wouldn't use that authority to preserve and sustain their life? What about self-defense?

The Creator of the universe stands beaten, bloodied, bruised and bludgeoned yet He doesn't lift His voice against the assailants - He only asks that they be forgiven. All the while, while enduring incredible torture on a scale we could never imagine, He keeps his omnipotence tucked away like a neatly folded handkerchief - ready to be pulled out at anytime... yet He never reaches for it.

    Why?

Because He was doing His Father's Will.

Colossians 1:19 says, "It pleased the Father that in him (that is, Jesus) should all fulness dwell."

May we all consider that in Christ ALL the fullness of God dwelled - EVEN while he endured our sin. He had the power to preserve Himself yet He humbly submitted to The Plan. We know that He could have called THOUSANDS (the Bible says "legions" - that sounds way cooler) of angels but He kept His mouth shut and HUMBLY endured.

    Think about this...

If a man were to assault you with a knife and you had a gun, would you not use it to preserve your existence? Of course! I know I wouldn't have to think twice about it but let me be honest with myself - My self-preservation would be based mostly on one thing: SELFISHNESS. I don't want to die, I don't want to experience pain and I think that I have something worth living for while if truth be known I am NOT found worthy to live, I deserve pain and I MUST die! (Romans 3:23 & 6:23)

Right now maybe you think that is cold; you are wrong. It is JUST. My sin is WHY Jesus had to die. The judgement on my soul had already been passed down - but Christ took my place. Humility fueled by a tsunami of love... for me.

May Christ's humbleness be an example to you and me. If He could humbly endure the judgement of our sin maybe we should follow His example and do the same while living in this corrupt world.

Paul said it best. "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2: 5-11)

Let THIS mind be in you...
