Were you at church May 2nd?
"And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head." Mark 14:4
If you were at church (and hopefully you were at Sunday School...check out aaronbutner.com for an article on that soon) you would have heard Victor Maxwell preach on this text. Mary saved the very best that she had, that alabaster box full of the sweet smelling oil, to anoint her Saviour with. She didn't give him leftovers or the "second-best" thing she had... she gave him something that would have taken a normal working person a YEAR'S WORTH OF WORK to buy!
The moral of the story is this - What have you given Jesus? Be honest...
Let's take this a step further - Have you given Jesus the best thing you have? No, not THINGS like your I-Pod, cell phone or television. The best thing you have is your life, the breath in your lungs, your talent - - - YOU!
God deserves it; if you've trusted Christ with your soul why haven't you gifted Him with your life?
Pour yourself out for God... Not just because it is the right thing to do or because it will give you purpose in life... Do it because He DESERVES it and because He is WORTHY!
