Thoughts from Craig- Are We Worthy?

    August 14, 2011
Romans 3: 10-11 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. I in my sin have no righteousness whatsoever. I had nothing to do with God. If it were up to me I would have continued to live in sin and would have enjoyed it. The same goes for you to. You think that...
  • Romans 1: 16-17 says, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."

Wow! Paul writes here to the church of Rome I'm not ashamed of the Gospel. Oh how little we take this scripture, we say were not ashamed, but how many people do you share the Gospel with on a daily basis? I'm ashamed at myself for not being bold with the Gospel! As children of Christ we are called to share the Gospel unto all nations.

I really love verse seventeen. Paul says for THEREIN (the gospel) is the righteousness of God (Jesus Christ) revealed from faith to faith. People need the Gospel and the only way that people can believe is if they hear! What are you doing about the Gospel? This world is dying and going to Hell, don't preach a water downed gospel. Preach the TRUE Gospel.

If you read on in Romans chapter 1 you will see just how much we really need the Gospel. Fall in love with Jesus and preach what he preached over two thousand years ago, THE GOSPEL!!!

    Find satisfaction in Christ Jesus!

    Thoughts from Craig - Treasure

    July 28, 2011
    The Ultimate Treasure

Last week we just had Vacation Bible School here at Lakeview Baptist Church, and the theme was Gold Rush. You know how cool would it feel if you were to go dig in your back yard and just find a crazy amount of gold burried underneath your yard. That would be some treasure to find wouldn't it. Well how bout if I told you right now that there is a treasure so great thats so imagineable, that you can find right now. I don't know what treasure you're seeking in life, but once you've found it will it give you full satisfaction, will it give you EVERLASTING satisfaction. If you're not seeking Jesus then you are searching for the wrong treasure.

Matthew 13:44 KJV- Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

You must understand if you seek Jesus because you get to go to heaven, you seek him in vain. What is the kingdom of heaven? What makes heaven, HEAVEN! Is it the streets of gold, or the angels, or the walls of jasper, NO!!! It is JESUS CHRIST!  When you find Jesus and seek him for the treasure he truly is, it's a treasure you'll never give up. You what happens when a miner finds gold? He keeps digging deeper. Well finding Jesus has the same principle. You just don't stop finding him, you keep digging in his word daily to find more and more. Seek the ultimate treasure! Seek true satisfaction! Seek JESUS CHRIST!!!

    Craig - Peru Missions Trip

    July 2, 2011
God has blessed enough to allow me to go to Arequipa, Peru a week ago, and what a blessing it was. While I was down there a verse of scripture has been ringing in my head ever since and I don't ever want it to stop!
Lamentations 3:51 says, "Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city."
While in Peru, I visited a cemetery and just to give you a little history, the Gospel was not preached in Arequipa, Peru until after the 1940's, and I saw so many tombstones with dates ending before the 1940's. I saw people weeping for their loved ones hoping that God might hear their cries that their loved ones can get out of Purgatory! Mine eye AFFECTETH my heart!
Before we left Arequipa, we prayed over the city on top of this huge mountain. There were lights as far as the eye could see. The population of Arequipa is over a million people and we've calculated that roughly 5% of the population has heard the gospel. Only 5%!!! Mine eye AFFECTETH my heart!
The plane ride back gave me time to think about this: What am I doing for the SAKE of His Name? Does seeing all these people without the gospel burden my heart for my own people and the world? We get so caught up in daily life when there are billions of people out there who have never heard the gospel and are dying and going to Hell! I look at America today and it's awful. We have full access to the Word of God but we still reject it!
Let's not just sit back and let the world die and go to hell! Pray that God would give us a willing heart, a passion, a huge burden for the world that we might go and preach unto all nations! Mine eyes have affected my heart! What are you going to do about it?

    Living with Reuel

    June 28, 2011
"And Moses was content to dwell with the man:"
    Exodus 2:21

This was not how Moses envisioned his destiny - a murderer, running for his life from the most powerful man in the world, and living amongst strangers. He had been raised by his mother in the house of Pharaoh, received the best education possible and no doubt been told that God had a "special purpose" for his life. He was the kid that escaped an early assassination, left to drift in the Nile, only to be rescued by a member of the royal family... that has PROMISE stamped all over it, right?

Though when Moses attempts to do God's Will (or what he thought was God's Will...), he totally messes it up. Instead of waiting on God while in Pharaoh's palace, he jumps the gun and attempts to bring down the evil regime - one soldier at a time.

His eagerness to obtain that which was not yet appropriated for him, led to a man who was scared, running for his life. No doubt he questioned himself as to whether or not he had ruined God's Will for his life with his impulsive actions. So when everything came to a head, and he found himself in an unfamiliar place, he said, "I will be content." Moses decided to just stop, be patient, wait on the Lord andbe happy doing so. His journey led him to a man, Reuel, and at that point in his life Moses decided it was best to just wait for God to lead him. (Read more here!)

Maybe your impulsiveness has led you to make mistakes... Maybe your decisions have caused you to think, "Man, I've screwed up big time!" and thus you are living a life of open bitterness and distress. I encourage you - be like Moses. Be content. Be satisfied with where you are (within reason) for the time being and allow God, from this point forward, to direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5&6).

    WHO is your religion for?

    May 23, 2011

Pastor Mike has been doing an awesome study on fasting according to the Bible over the past few Sunday nights, and he hit on this text of Scripture found in Matthew 6:16-18:

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They...

"What do y'all do for the youth?"

    April 25, 2011

Being a youth pastor/director, I am asked often, "What do you do for the young people?" I think it is a great question, though sometimes the motive may be misplaced... A youth group should not exist so that kids or teens will have something to do at church. We already have that - worshiping Jesus, growing in God's Word and being an encouragment to other believers. (That's not just for the "old people"; that's for the youth as well!)

So what does Lakeview Baptist Church offer our young people?

Yeah, we have games and activities... but almost every church these days has that! In a seeker-driven church era, it seems that the entertainment value of worship is more meaningful than the One we are actually there to worship!

    How to be a Somebody!

    March 22, 2011

In our American culture, you have been told to be succesful you have to become something bigger than yourself. This world says in order to be a "somebody" you have to be recognized for something of great importance - become larger than life!

True success, becoming a somebody, is not measured in dollars, prestige or the number of supposed friends...

    My Jesus

    March 14, 2011

Emily Jaynes, one of our young people, wrote this article. Yes, that's right, a teenager who is trying to serve her King, wrote this! Enjoy!

My Jesus is the Son of an Almighty & Sovereign God. He was brutally & visciously murdered. Why? Because it pleased the Father to do that. Why? For the sins of YOU & I. His death, though...
